Signature facelift
Deep plane facelift (face & neck lift) in Seoul, Korea
A deep plane facelift lifts the skin, the SMAS muscle layer and the retaining ligaments together, so the face is repositioned from underneath instead of pulled at the surface. At Grand it takes about 4 hours under general anesthesia, patients usually leave the same day, and stitches come out after 1–2 weeks.

Photos of Grand Plastic Surgery patients. Individual results vary, and every surgery carries risks such as bleeding, inflammation, infection and scarring.
Who is a good candidate?
- Sagging cheeks and jowls that blur the jawline
- Loose skin, wrinkles or bands in the neck
- Aging that fillers, threads or energy devices no longer improve
- People who want one operation with a long-lasting result
You also need to be in good general health. Grand's pre-operative check includes a 50-point health review, and conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes must be under control before surgery.
How the surgery is done
- Incision. The surgeon draws an incision inside the hairline, around the front of the ear and behind it.
- Lift the deep layer. The skin and SMAS layer are raised together and the retaining ligaments that hold sagging tissue down are released.
- Reposition and trim. Tissue is lifted in a vertical direction and excess skin is removed without tension on the skin edge.
- Close. Fine layered stitches place the scars in the scalp and behind the ears.
Because the lift is anchored in the deeper layer, the skin is not stretched. Grand describes the effect as semi-permanent: the face keeps aging, but from a younger starting point. It also gives a clearer V-shaped jawline, which patients often notice more than the wrinkle improvement.
Before your surgery
- Fast for 8 hours before surgery.
- Stop aspirin and painkillers 7–10 days before surgery (tell us about every medicine and supplement you take).
- No smoking or alcohol for at least 3 days before surgery.
- Arrange transport home or to your hotel. You cannot drive after anesthesia.
After your surgery
- Swelling is greatest in the first 48 hours.
- Use ice packs for the first 7 days, then switch to warm packs.
- Sleep on your back with your head raised 20–30° for 4 weeks. Avoid sleeping on your side.
- No sauna or hot baths for about 4 weeks.
- No jogging, swimming or facial massage for 6 weeks.
- No smoking or alcohol for 3–4 weeks.
Combining with other procedures
Deep plane facelifts are often combined with upper eyelid surgery, lower eyelid surgery, a forehead lift or fat grafting. Grand's BEST A package combines eye lift, deep plane facelift and neck liposuction in one plan.

Deep plane facelift recovery
- Surgery day
Surgery under general anesthesia with an anesthesiologist present. Most patients go back to their hotel the same day after monitored recovery.
- Day 1–2
Swelling and tightness peak within 48 hours. Keep your head raised and use ice packs. A post-operative check is scheduled at the clinic.
- Day 3–7
Swelling and bruising begin to settle. Continue ice packs until day 7. Short walks are encouraged.
- Week 1–2
Stitches are removed 1–2 weeks after surgery. Many patients fly home after this visit. Switch from ice to warm packs.
- Week 4
You can usually return to sleeping normally and use the sauna again. Most visible swelling has gone.
- Week 6+
Return to jogging, swimming and massage. The face keeps softening and settling over the following months.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a deep plane facelift take?
About 4 hours under general anesthesia. An anesthesiologist monitors you during the whole operation.
Do I need to stay in hospital?
Most patients are discharged the same day after monitored recovery and rest at a nearby hotel.
When are the stitches removed?
Between 1 and 2 weeks after surgery. Plan your return flight after this visit.
Is a deep plane facelift painful?
Most patients describe tightness and swelling more than pain. Swelling peaks within 48 hours and pain medication is prescribed.
Where are the scars?
Inside the hairline, in the natural crease in front of the ear and behind the ear. They are designed to be hidden by hair and ear shape.
How long do the results last?
Because the SMAS and ligaments are repositioned rather than just the skin, results last much longer than thread lifts or energy treatments. Grand describes the effect as semi-permanent, though natural aging continues.
