Why the face and neck are lifted together
The SMAS layer of the face continues into the platysma muscle of the neck. Lifting only the lower face can leave a loose neck, and lifting only the neck can leave heavy jowls. Grand's deep plane facelift lifts both in one direction so the jawline is clean from ear to chin.
Removing neck fat
If fat is part of the problem, the surgeon can add neck liposuction or Acculift, a laser that melts fat and tightens the skin. These are included in Grand's BEST A and Face & Neck packages.
Recovery
- Swelling is greatest in the first 48 hours.
- Use ice packs for the first 7 days, then switch to warm packs.
- Sleep on your back with your head raised 20–30° for 4 weeks. Avoid sleeping on your side.
- No sauna or hot baths for about 4 weeks.
- No jogging, swimming or facial massage for 6 weeks.
- No smoking or alcohol for 3–4 weeks.
A compression band may be recommended for the neck in the first days. Your coordinator gives you written instructions in English.

Frequently asked questions
Can I have a neck lift without a facelift?
It depends on your anatomy. When neck laxity is linked to jowls, Grand usually recommends the combined deep plane face and neck lift for a balanced result. Mild fat under the chin can be treated with liposuction or Acculift alone.
Will a neck lift fix a double chin?
If the double chin is fat, liposuction or Acculift removes it. If it is loose skin and muscle, the neck lift tightens it. Many patients need both.
Where are the scars?
Behind the ears and in the hairline, the same incisions used for the facelift.
